Senior Technical Writer

At Randstad Defence, we’re proud to be partnering with Electro Optic Systems (EOS)—a leading force in the design, development, and manufacturing of advanced defence systems. They are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer to lead their Technical Communications team in Canberra. The Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for the day to day management of technical writers and illustrators, and to create technical publications that meets the company's need and regulatory standards.

The candidate must be an Australian citizen and be eligible for a security clearance.

About the role
The Senior Technical Writer will oversee the development of EOS Technical Communications products and related data. They are expected to be an active member of the Technical Communications team and contribute to the authoring of documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure EOS Technical Communications meet the required need.
• Provide publications to ASD S1000D standards and format using the R4i Suite of software and publishing packages.
• Drive continuous improvement in systems, methods and processes to ensure the Technical Communications functions and processes are operating efficiently.
• Lead the Technical Communications team consistent with the goals and objectives of the company.
• Assign activities based on workload and expertise within the team.
• Develop and implement strategies that demonstrate forward thinking and innovation for how publications are authored and distributed.
• Engage with EOS engineering groups both locally and internationally to ensure requirements are identified and met.
• Engage the Project and ILS Managers regarding their specific Technical Communication requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Qualifications or significant experience in a Technical Documentation domain (preferably electro-mechanical background).
• Experience working within defence environment.
• Minimum 10 years in a similar role.
• Experience/Knowledge of defence Industry Technical Publication Standards.
